COMPETITION GUIDELINES
LANGUAGE
The languages accepted in this competition are English and Malay. The Abstract, Extended Abstract, and Video Presentation (for online participants) can be in either language. You may submit the abstract in English and present in Malay, or vice versa. We are not strict about language usage because we understand that some of you may want to train your students in both languages.

NUMBER OF GROUP MEMBERS
Each group can have a maximum of 10 members. Groups with more than 10 members must either remove the extra members or form a new innovation group.

CONFLICT OF INTEREST
Judges for this event MUST NOT participate as contestants at the same time.

CATEGORIES
There are two main categories of participation in INNOCOM:

    1) Innovation Idea
    2) Innovation Product/Project

This classification ensures that ideas compete with ideas only, while innovation projects (with products) compete fairly with other products.

1) INNOVATION IDEA
If your project is still at the idea stage
(without a product), you may present it via a virtual poster and upload it on YouTube.

2) INNOVATION PRODUCT/PROJECT
If you have a product, you may present it along with all supporting materials and upload it on YouTube. Your video should clearly demonstrate how the product works.

SUB-CATEGORIES:
Select the sub-category that best fits your idea/product:

1) Social Sciences
2) Science & Technology
3) Innovation in Education and Teaching
COMPETITION FLOW
1) Submit your abstract after confirming your category and sub-category. The Google Form link for abstract submission is provided on this website—refer to the Home page. You will receive a Letter of Acceptance (LoA) after your abstract is reviewed by our panel.

2) Prepare a 4–6 minute video presentation (for either idea or product innovation) and upload it on YouTube. All participants must ensure that their video is set to PUBLIC or UNLISTED.

If your video does not cover all the important details about your product, please fill out the report form for judging purposes. However, if your video contains all the necessary information, you do not need to submit the report. Participants competing in the Innovation Idea category usually do not need to submit the report due to the simplicity of their ideas compared to mature innovation products or projects.

The report template can be accessed here:

Submitting a digital poster is COMPULSORY for innovators competing in the Innovation Idea category via online presentation.

4) Participants who choose to join the Live Q&A session on Zoom will attend it on 17 September 2026, with the exact schedule to be shared by email and Whatsapp group. This session is optional and only for participants who need it for promotion or other requirements. No marks are given for this session.

5) The award results will be announced on the website on 24 September 2026 after Award Announcement Day.
EXTENDED ABSTRACT SUBMISSION (OPTIONAL)
Submitting an Extended Abstract is optional but highly encouraged. This is a great opportunity for participants who wish to publish their innovation product or idea.

Important Note: If you submit the Judging Report, it is for evaluation purposes only and not for publication. The Extended Abstract is meant for publication and will be published in the AID Academy Innovation Journal (June 2026 edition). The journal will have an e-ISSN from the National Library of Malaysia.

The Extended Abstract must be between 1,000 and 1,500 words (excluding references).
