ABSTRACT
Title : Shaping Tomorrow: Innovation as the Heart of Social Sciences
Social innovation is the engine that drives meaningful change, yet many still ask: what exactly is social innovation, and how can it be systematically applied? This talk explores the concept of social innovation and introduces key frameworks that scholars and practitioners can use to design impactful solutions. I will discuss why social innovation is urgently needed in today’s rapidly changing world, from addressing inequality and mental health challenges to building cohesive, resilient communities. Participants will be introduced to the different types of social innovation — from policy innovations to grassroots community initiatives — and how these can be developed through research, collaboration, and creative problem-solving. The talk will also address common barriers, including institutional silos, limited funding, and resistance to change, while offering strategies to overcome them. The session concludes with a call to action: for social scientists, educators, and practitioners to embrace innovation as a guiding principle in shaping a more inclusive and sustainable future.
